One Candle

About this book

Our heroine's mother tells our heroine, just as she leaves to go out to play, "One candle against the darkness can light a room, and can light the way!" And this leaves our heroine dumbfounded once again, because she doesn't know why her mother said what she said. And so, when she goes out to play, she tells everyone what her mother said to see what they think. And in the end, our heroine must figure it out all by herself.Think about what you think our heroine's mother meant, as you practice your reading skills and build your reading word vocabulary through word recognition, word repetition and rhyme, all of which you will find on the pages of this fun, 'learn to read' book written and illustrated by the award winning author, attorney and former K-6 teacher, Penelope Dyan. But most of all, have fun as you learn; because learning must be (and should always be) fun!
