Prayer and Praying Men

About this book

Prayer and Praying Men is a classic Christian work on the power, discipline, and spiritual necessity of prayer. E. M. Bounds turns to the lives of biblical figures whose faith was shaped and tested through prayer, showing how communion with God stands at the centre of obedience, courage, humility, repentance, service, and spiritual strength. For Bounds, prayer is not a religious ornament or occasional consolation, but the living force through which believers seek God's will, receive grace, and take part in the work of the kingdom.Direct, devotional, and deeply rooted in Scripture, Prayer and Praying Men belongs to Bounds's enduring body of writing on Christian prayer, spiritual growth, and the life of faith. Through examples drawn from Moses, Samuel, Elijah, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, Paul, and other men of prayer, Bounds presents prayer as both personal devotion and spiritual labour. This edition will interest readers of Christian classics, devotional literature, biblical studies, prayer books, spiritual formation, evangelical Christianity, and the history of Christian discipleship.
