About this book

St Simon the Tanner: A Man Who Moved a Mountain is an Orthodox children's book by Deacon George that tells how the faith of a humble Coptic saint moved the Mokattam Mountain.St Simon the Tanner was an ordinary man, neither a priest nor a monk, yet he is one of the best-known saints of the Coptic Orthodox Church. In the reign of Al-Muizz, the first Fatimid ruler of Egypt, Pope Abraam, the 62nd Patriarch, was challenged to prove the words of Matthew 17:20 about faith that can move mountains. The Virgin Mary guided him to seek the help of St Simon, through whom the miracle would be done.St Simon's humility, prayer and service gave him faith strong enough for this amazing miracle, a wonderful example of God's power and love in saving His people from perishing.Told through the eyes of Pope Abraam, the story will help every reader fall in love with a life of humility and trust in God, following St Simon's example.A great choice for parents, grandparents and Sunday school teachers who want to show children that God works mighty wonders through humble, prayerful people, and that real faith is something they can live every day.
