Even Darkness Must Pass

About this book

What do you do with God's sovereignty when sorrow moves in?After the homegoing of his son, Buddy Thigpen discovered that faith does not disappear in grief-but it does change its breathing. Questions once held at arm's length move into the living room. Scriptures once quoted with confidence must now be leaned on for survival. In that place, tidy answers no longer suffice, and well-meaning clichés fall silent. This book is an honest, pastoral journey through loss, trust, and the long obedience of faith. Anchored firmly in Scripture and shaped by lived experience, Thigpen writes not as a theologian offering explanations from a distance, but as a fellow pilgrim learning how to stay with God when the pain will not hurry along. He invites readers into a faith that dares to lament, that tells the truth about sorrow without surrendering hope, and that rests in who God is even when what God does cannot be explained. You will not find easy resolutions here. What you will find is permission to grieve faithfully, to ask real questions without fear, and to discover that God's presence is not fragile-even in the darkest nights. With warmth, humility, and gentle wisdom, these pages remind weary believers that faith can breathe where it hurts. If your prayers feel thin, your questions feel heavy, and your heart feels tired, this book offers companionship on the road. Not because the storm is small, but because the Shepherd remains faithful-and He does not abandon His people in the valley.
