Isaiah's Amazing Promise

About this book

What do you tell a frightened country that has run out of good news?Isaiah lived when armies were close and everybody was afraid. God sent him to say something nobody expected: help is coming, and it is bigger than the trouble. This retelling opens the longest book of the prophets for small children, out in a red rock canyon where a dry wilderness is quietly turning green again.Fourteen full-page illustrations walk through what Isaiah actually said. A green shoot pushes up out of a dead stump. White flowers open on sand where nothing had grown for years. Water breaks out in the desert, a wolf lies down beside a lamb, and an eagle climbs on a wind that a tired child cannot feel yet. Then Isaiah promises a child who would be born and grow up to be the kindest King the world ever had.Inside this book: A simple retelling written for ages 3 to 8, in fresh words One King James Version verse set apart to remember together A "Where Are We in the Bible?" page showing where book 23 sits in the 66 Three takeaways and three questions to talk about Words to Know, and a short prayer A "Read It Yourself" page of KJV passages for ages 8 to 12 Gentle all the way through.
