About this book

Folktales are a broad and imaginative form of narrative storytelling that has been passed down orally since ancient times. They are a flexible linguistic art created by working people using spoken language. Like pearls shining brightly in the river of history, and like gentle spring rain nourishing the hearts of generation after generation, folktales hold enduring value. This book selects a collection of wonderful folktales from various ethnic groups in China, including The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, The Legend of the White Snake, and The Horse-head Fiddle. These stories have曲折离奇 (twisting and fantastical) plots, rich imagination, and engaging charm. They contain a wealth of historical knowledge and profound national sentiments, helping young readers develop a love for traditional Chinese culture through reading, and thus carry forward that cultural heritage.
