Finding Jesus

About this book

With his marriage and his job ending at the same time, and even his dog dying, he struggles to carry on. Can he keep working, keep believing, and keep living? When a surprising presence fills his silent house he finds new hope. But is that hope too good to be true? Karl Meyer's retirement becomes a lonely prospect when his wife leaves him and his dog dies. Such losses might test one's sanity. That's what Karl assumes when he hears noises, even voices, in his old house. He's still mentoring graduate students and writing an important book on Albert Schweitzer. He's too old for fantasies. But is he too old to believe in miracles? Christmas approaching, Karl goes through the motions for the holiday as he is doing for work. When his grown kids visit and a foundling dog seems destined to stay, the house is filled in ways he didn't expect. Karl begins to believe he has found Jesus in a way far more literal than he ever imagined. Sharing the story of a Jesus who is visible and audible seems risky. But a counselor friend and a friendly neighbor lady both seem inclined to believe the old professor. And Jesus seems determined to convince not only Karl but as many of his friends and colleagues as possible. This fourth book in the Seeing Jesus series explores the renewal of faith that resides beyond intellectual categories, where a truly personal relationship with the savior is possible.
