One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by popular author Father Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D., teaches children about these popular and lesser-known saints. Catholic saints are special people who loved God and tried to live like Jesus. They are important because they show us how to live holy lives and remind us that anyone can become a saint by loving God and others. Praying to saints is a special way Catholics feel connected to God's big family. Saints are people who loved God with all their hearts and are now in heaven with Him. When we pray to saints, we are asking them to pray for us, just like we would ask a friend or family member to help us. The joy of praying to saints comes from knowing we are never alone. The saints understand the challenges we face, because they lived on Earth too. If you feel scared, lost, or in need of help, you can pray to a saint who went through something similar. For example, St. Anthony is often prayed to when something is lost, and St. Therese of Lisieux reminds us to find joy in doing small things with love. Praying to saints also helps us feel closer to God. Saints are like heavenly friends who cheer us on and want us to grow in faith. When we ask for their prayers, they bring our needs to God in a powerful way. This connection fills our hearts with hope and reminds us that we are part of God's loving family. Praying to saints is a joyful reminder that, with their help and prayers, we can live holy lives and stay close to Jesus!
