Being Gay, Black, and Christian

About this book

BEING GAY, BLACK AND CHRISTIAN: A Journey of Faith and Identity is a raw, honest memoir and spiritual blueprint for moving from a fragmented existence to a life of unedited wholeness. For too long, author Michael M. Roberson lived life trying to fit into a suit that did not quite fit-editing his identity just to survive the expectations of the church, his community, and the workplace. In this powerful debut, Roberson chronicles his profound transformation from hiding his true self to fully embracing the intersections of his faith, queer identity, and professional authority. From the rhythmic, maternal roots of a basement church in Inkster, Michigan, through the heavy trials of bankruptcy and grief, to his arrival as a corporate Operations Leader in the nation's capital, this book maps out the exact architecture of personal reconciliation.More than a personal testimony, Being Gay, Black and Christian explores the complexities of navigating intersecting identities and shifting from the fear of religious judgment to finding a true spiritual sanctuary. By turning past rubble into a rock-solid foundation for leadership and personal empowerment, Roberson delivers an essential read and a powerful call for grace within both the Black church and the Black queer community.Whether you are seeking to reconcile your own faith with your identity or striving to bring your full, unedited self into your career, this book provides the roadmap to wholeness. It is entirely possible to build a house that can hold all of who you are.
