Mercy for the Valley

About this book

When words fail, the throne of grace remains open.Mercy for the Valley is a collection of forty reverent, Scripture-saturated prayers written for sinners in need of mercy, saints seeking greater faithfulness, and sufferers walking through life's deepest valleys.Inspired by the weight, beauty, and theological richness of the Puritan tradition, Dr. Austin W. Tucker began writing these prayers to guard against approaching God casually, especially when praying publicly on behalf of Christ's church. What began as a private pastoral discipline became a treasury of prayers shaped by awe, humility, repentance, and confidence in the finished work of Jesus Christ.Within these pages, readers will find prayers centered on: Praise and adoration God's sovereignty and providence Christ the Redeemer Confession and repentance Guidance and sanctification Creation, worship, and Christian faithfulness The collection also includes three extended reflections on the power, necessity, and sacred practice of prayer. These are not prayers meant merely to be admired. They are meant to be prayed, studied, adapted, and used to deepen the believer's communion with God. Whether read during personal devotion, family worship, pastoral preparation, or seasons of suffering, Mercy for the Valley calls Christians to approach their Father with greater reverence, and with the confidence of children welcomed through Christ.Pray often. Pray daily. Pray without ceasing. And when you do not know what to say, come anyway.
