Saint Ignatius of Loyola

About this book

Before he was a saint, Ignatius of Loyola was a vain young soldier who dreamed only of glory, until a cannonball shattered his leg and changed the course of his life. Laid up for months with nothing to read but a book about Jesus and the saints, Ignatius made a discovery that would shape the Church for centuries: some daydreams leave us empty, and some fill us with lasting peace. This spirited retelling follows Ignatius from the battlefield to a quiet cave in Manresa, through the writing of the Spiritual Exercises, to the founding of the Society of Jesus, teaching children to notice discernment, embrace discipline, and find God in every ordinary moment of their day.
