The Fibbing Giraffe

About this book

Why Do Kids Lie? Apart from trying to cover up their mischief and "oopsies", kids are also experimenting with their imagination. If you think about it, lying takes a lot of work! You have to understand that the person you're lying to doesn't "know what you know". And then you have to use creativity and brain-power to conjure a story that makes sense! There's a lot of mental work that goes into lying. So when your kiddo first starts to tell lies, it's a sign that he or she is getting smarter! BUT there are things you can do as a parent to prevent lying as a bad habit. Our favorite way? Stories. Everyone loves stories. It's hardwired into our brains. If you don't...are you an alien? Heck, aliens probably love stories too! Anyways, research shows that stories with positive endings and anti-fibbing themes promoted greater levels of honesty. And that's exactly what you're getting with The Fibbing Giraffe. This book teaches a powerful lesson to little ones and adults alike. Seeing the effect on the giraffe when he fibs should motivate young ones to do the right thing and tell the truth. The illustrations make the book appealing to read as they are colourful and fun. - Michelle The author does a wonderful job of adapting the familiar theme of the Pinocchio story into telling his own unique and fun version of a story with great illustrations and a message that is still very important for kids to learn to this day. - Nathaniel Well written book, wonderful illustrations with a great story and lesson for kids!!
