John Wimber

About this book

John Wimber: His Life and Ministry offers the first full-length, richly documented biography of one of the most influential leaders in modern charismatic Christianity. John Wimber (1934-1997), founder of the Vineyard Movement, helped reshape the global church's understanding of the Holy Spirit, healing ministry, and the place of signs and wonders in everyday Christian life. From his humble beginnings through personal struggles and a dramatic encounter with the Holy Spirit, this compelling narrative traces how Wimber's theology of power evangelism changed thousands of lives and challenged traditional church assumptions. Readers will gain insight into his time at Fuller Seminary, the development of the Vineyard network, his controversial engagements with the Kansas City Prophets, and his response to the Toronto Outpouring - all grounded in historical research and theological reflection. Written for pastors, students of church history, and anyone hungry for a deeper understanding of supernatural ministry, this book blends biography, doctrine, and spiritual formation. Whether you are exploring the Third Wave of the Holy Spirit, seeking clarity on the role of spiritual gifts, or simply drawn to the life of a leader who walked with both power and humility, John Wimber: His Life and Ministry offers both insight and inspiration. "I very seldom read any book but the Bible, but I felt led to read this book on John Wimber, and I'm so glad I did. It really impacted me. I knew virtually nothing about John Wimber, and this book was both enlightening and inspiring. I was totally blessed and also warned about potential ways the enemy could attack. I believe many others will be impacted by this book."- Andrew Wommack Dr. Connie Dawson brings both scholarly depth and pastoral insight to this remarkable life, making accessible what many have only experienced secondhand.
