The Endless Hike

About this book

This is an interactive adventure where you make the decisions about where to go next! You've just been dropped off at the Colorado Trail for a month-long hike in the Colorado wilderness. When a sudden summer storm pops up, should you seek shelter in the old cabin, or a nearby mine? Is it better to explore underground mine shafts, or play it safe and stay on the hiking trail? Depending on the choices YOU make, you could be transported back in time, find hidden treasure, battle a mountain lion, experience eerie events, or simply enjoy nature on a peaceful hike. But beware - the wrong choices could leave you stranded in the past, trapped in a cave-in, or worse! The strangers you meet along the way could end up helping you, stranding you, or trapping you. Even when you're on your guard, wild animals and unforeseen events could bring your hike (and you!) to an abrupt end. Can you make the right choices to survive your wilderness adventure? In this interactive adventure with a sprinkling of mystery, suspense, and the supernatural thrown in for good measure, YOU get to decide what you do next! Ideal for ages 9-13 and reluctant readers of all ages. NOTICE: This book shouldn't be read in order!! Each page will tell you which page to jump to next--sometimes the next page, sometimes 20 or 30 pages ahead and then back again as you make different decisions throughout the story. From the book: Every so often, you glimpse a pair of glowing eyes peeking out of the forest around you, curious about the fire and all the activity at the abandoned mine. Your growling stomach pulls your thoughts away from the possibility of mountain lions, bears, and other predators, and you give your full attention to enjoying your dinner. A loud growl nearby recalls your mind to what's happening outside the mine. A set of golden eyes is watching you from the Trail, moving stealthily toward you. A mountain lion! Not making any sudden movements, you carefully slide closer to your pack and gently search for something to defend yourself with. What would you do? Read this book and make the choice for yourself!
