Prayers to Saint Giles for Help in the Difficulties of Life

About this book

For centuries, the figure of Saint Giles has been associated with the withdrawn life, penance, and mercy. Therefore, for centuries, his intercession has been sought during times of trial and difficulty. Saint Giles was considered for centuries one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, a group of saints invoked in grave needs and in times of collective anguish. He was also traditionally invoked against specific afflictions such as the plague, epilepsy, certain mental disorders, night fears, and other forms of physical or psychological suffering. This book is rooted in this traditional devotion to Saint Giles and, with biblical foundation and including Scriptural quotations throughout the book, offers a collection of prayers to seek his intercession in moments of affliction, fear, inner suffering, and urgent need. Inspired by the figure of this saint of quiet mercy, patience, and trust in God, it is a spiritual aid for those who wish to turn to prayer with faith, humility, and hope. It includes a novena of preparation and supplication, together with prayers intended for those going through life's difficulties, interior struggles, anguish of conscience, or situations that seem to have no way out. Prayers to Saint Giles for Help in the Difficulties of Life is a devotional book for finding consolation, strength, and refuge in the intercession of a saint venerated for centuries as a powerful help in tribulation.
