The Least of These

About this book

In the small Argentine city of San Rafael, two young missionaries arrive with determination, optimism, and a carefully constructed plan for success.Like many missionaries before them, they believe that if they can just find the right strategy-and perhaps the right influential church member-the work of sharing the gospel will move forward quickly. But San Rafael proves to be a place where plans have a habit of falling apart.Doors close. Carefully designed strategies collapse. Even the most promising opportunities sometimes dissolve in unexpected ways.Yet amid the confusion and occasional misadventures-including flooded highways, artistic experiments involving eggs, and more than one well-intentioned plan that goes dramatically awry-the missionaries slowly begin to discover something remarkable. The Lord's work in San Rafael has never depended on their plans. When the time was right, entire families began to appear, ready to learn more.Through humor, heartfelt reflection, and unforgettable experiences from missionary life in Argentina, The Least of These tells the story of how the Lord often works through the most unexpected people. It is a story about faith, humility, and the quiet discipleship of ordinary believers. Most of all, it is a reminder that in the kingdom of heaven, greatness is not measured by position, influence, or recognition-but by simple acts of love and service.Sometimes the brightest light in a community comes from the person standing quietly in the shadows.
