Pele

About this book

Pele is the living fire beneath Hawaiʻi-the goddess who destroys, creates, loves, rages, grieves, and begins the world again. From her birth beyond the sea to her final becoming as the mother of new land, her journey moves through exile, sisterhood, desire, rivalry, loss, and transformation. She battles ocean, snow, storm, and her own untamed heart, leaving behind black stone, red blossoms, sacred scars, and places where life learns to return. This book brings Pele's mythology to life through immersive storytelling, tracing her voyage across the islands, her home at Halemaʻumaʻu, her fierce encounters with Poliʻahu and Kamapuaʻa, the tragedy of ʻŌhiʻa and Lehua, and Hiʻiaka's courageous journey for Lohiʻau. Each reflection invites you to look inward at the emotions beneath the myth-belonging, jealousy, devotion, remorse, boundaries, power, and renewal. Each meditation offers a quiet space to breathe, release, rebuild, and listen for the wisdom hidden beneath the fire.Pele's story does not promise that transformation will be gentle. It reveals that even after destruction, the soul can cool into new ground, receive rain, hold roots, and become a place where life begins again. For anyone among ashes, her flame offers courage to honour loss while welcoming what is forming.
