The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace

About this book

They would not bow-even when the king threatened them with fire. King Nebuchadnezzar commands the rulers of Babylon to worship his great golden image. Everyone falls down when the music begins-except Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The three faithful Israelites know that the LORD is able to save them. Yet even if He does not preserve their earthly lives, they will worship Him alone. Bound and cast into the blazing furnace, the three men discover that they are not alone. A fourth figure walks with them in the fire: the eternal Son of God, the same Lord who spoke to Moses from the burning bush. Centuries later, He would be born in Bethlehem and given the name Jesus. Told in vivid, reverent language and richly illustrated in a classical style, The Three Men in the Fiery Furnace teaches children courage, faithfulness to the First Commandment, and the greater promise of Christ: He remains with His people in suffering, and even death cannot separate them from Him. Includes a concluding "Christ's Promise for You" page and a catechetical page for parents, with Scripture readings, questions, selections from the Apostles' Creed and Small Catechism, and a family prayer. For children ages 5-9 and their families.
