The Month of the Precious Blood

About this book

THIRTY-ONE DAYS OF MEDITATION UPON THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRISTThe Precious Blood poured out by Jesus Christ is the price of humanity's redemption, the fountain of divine mercy, and an enduring testimony to the immeasurable love of God.Written for July, traditionally dedicated to the Precious Blood, this devotional work by Fr. Marin de Boylesve, S.J. (1813-1892) presents thirty-one days of spiritual reading and prayer. His meditations lead the reader through the unfolding mystery of redemption: beginning with figures and prefigurations in the Old Testament, continuing through their fulfilment in the New Testament, and concluding with the presence and action of Christ's Precious Blood in the sacraments of the Catholic Church.Fr. de Boylesve explains why the shedding of Christ's Blood was necessary for the salvation of the human race and encourages readers to respond with gratitude, confidence, reparation, and deeper love for the Crucified Redeemer.Concise and accessible, these daily readings are particularly suited to the Month of the Precious Blood, yet they may also be used during Lent, Passiontide, Holy Week, or at any time of the year for personal meditation and prayer. This first English edition includes: - Thirty-one daily meditations and prayers- Scriptural reflections spanning the Old and New Testaments- Teaching on the Precious Blood and the sacraments- Traditional devotions to the Precious Blood- Additional prayers- A biography of Fr.
