David McIntyre The Hidden Life of Prayer

About this book

Prayer is the beating heart of our relationship with God. But why must it be in secret? Why does Jesus insist we close the door when we pray?In this classic guidebook, McIntyre draws from some of the great men of God who have gone before us: Spurgeon, Bonar, Luther, and others to reveal their own lives in prayer and what we can learn from them in order to find a greater commitment to communicating with God.His practical approach exposes the equipment we need to enter a secret place of prayer: A quiet place A quiet hour A quiet heart Not only that, but he defines and explains the systematic way we can order our time in the "upper room: " Worship Confession Request With such clear guidelines, backed up with Scripture and quotes from prominent Christians, this book will challenge you to go deeper in your time of secret prayer and point you to a rewarding, treasure-filled life in Jesus."God brings books at their appointed times. The Hidden Life of Prayer arrived late but well-timed. This little jewel-strewn tapestry has done for me at 64 what Bounds' Power Through Prayer did at 34. I could be ashamed that I need inspiration for the highest privilege. But I choose to be thankful." -John Piper, author of A Hunger for God: Desiring God Through Fasting and Prayer"Every time I read this book, the Lord uses it to deepen my prayer life and encourage my faith. I strongly recommend it!" -Wayne Grudem, author of Systematic Theology
