Loved and Loving

About this book

Loved and Loving is a uniquely beautiful guide for prayer based on the Contemplation to Attain God's Love, the famous, crowning moment in the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Each meditation in Loved and Loving is intended to lead us into a prayer experience of God's love; to deepen that experience by recalling it, remembering and collecting how much it is, how personal it is. As we are led into the heart of the meditation we receive this interior knowledge of God's love, as immeasurable, unconditional, abounding in kindness, and everlastingly faithful. In response to such great overflowing love, our hearts are moved to gratitude, to loving response and action; we offer ourselves, all that we are and have- "Take Lord and Receive." Loved and Loving is rich in options, possibilities, invitations, resources, and practical suggestions. It offers beautifully written commentaries, scriptural resources such as major theologians and spiritual masters as well as classical and contemporary poets and novelists. For those who long to have their lives magnify love, for retreat facilitators, and spiritual companions who long to help others in contemplating love in daily life, this book is a treasure. A very creative work of love about love.
