I AM the WHALE

About this book

A mythic story of love, loss, and return.Born into a whaling family in a small fishing village near Newport, a young man inherits a legacy shaped by tradition, labor, and blood. From an early age, he feels a pull toward the ocean that places him at odds with the life his father expects him to claim.Haunted by recurring dreams of the underwater world and burdened by a grief he cannot fully name, he refuses to take part in the hunt. His resistance creates a widening rift between himself and his stern, unyielding father, forcing him to confront the cost of defying inheritance and the consequences of obedience.I Am the Whale is a novel about memory, legacy, and the long shadow of violence passed from one generation to the next. Moving between land and sea, it explores how love and loss shape identity, and what it means to choose a different path when the past refuses to loosen its hold.Daniel Miller has painted an ethereal picture of a powerful and thought-provoking odyssey of the soul, with lyrical, symbolic, and deep human elements woven beautifully within.
