Holy Rebellion

About this book

"There is so much innocence and beauty in the world. And so much darkness and violence. We see this especially dramatically in systems that try to pretend they're good, exclusive, or better than others. These cult-like systems can feel all-encompassing, but there is an off-ramp. It is possible to exit them and find a world of love and acceptance."Holy Rebellion is the labyrinthine story of a woman raised in an evangelical system who walks the winding path from stilted righteousness to being fully alive. Through meanders that take her from Paris to suburban Kenya, from self-condemnation to self-acceptance, she discovers the truth was the opposite of everything she was taught. For anyone who's been told they're anything less than lovable, Holy Rebellion is a reminder that you are infinitely valuable, completely loved, and the indisputable ruler of your kingdom.___________________________Advance Praise for Holy Rebellion"In a time when we desperately need alternatives to the performance and power that dominate so much of contemporary culture, the story of Christi Byerlyʼs journey from religious abuse towards revolutionary love reveals the forces that are dividing our social fabric. This is a precious testimony that love, not righteousness, is the key to our humanity. A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the process of how good people get caught up in bad systems, and how we find our way out.ˮ - Clare Norman, Master Coach and Author of The Transformational Coach and Cultivating Coachability"This book brought me to tears. It reveals the quiet devastation of indoctrination, beliefs lived without question, where religion can eclipse curiosity and compassion. And yet, at its heart is Christi: a woman whose journey radiates love, joy, and deep acceptance of difference. Through her healing, old patterns are broken, generations are touched, and a powerful reminder emerges that reclaiming our humanity begins with choosing love.ˮ - Debbie Brupbacher, Executive Transformation Coach"Holy Rebellion is a homecoming for anyone who survived systems that called themselves loving and dared to question them. Christi writes for those shaped by religious abuse and family conditioning who carried both the cost of that harm and the deep, persistent knowing that love had to be more than this. With courage and compassion, this book helps untangle love from fear and faith from coercion. Holy Rebellion points beyond inherited beliefs and borrowed identities toward a Love vast enough to hold your questions, your grief, and your becoming. A Love that was never owned by any system and never stopped reaching for you.ˮ - Valeyne Grotrian, Founder, Agora Coaching & Training Solutions
