How We Pray

About this book

It is a profound privilege to address our Father in heaven, yet many believers struggle with how to approach him. How We Pray unpacks and expounds the teaching of the Lord Jesus in the Lord's Prayer. 'I love this book, and will recommend it to others. It is simple and profound, rich and practical, clear and perceptive. How good to have Biblical, personal and pastoral wisdom together in one book, and presented so attractively. I thank God for this book: may he use it in the lives of many people for his glory.'Peter AdamVicar Emeritus, St Jude's Carlton, Former Principal of Ridley College, Melbourne, Australia 'This book is a warmly pastoral invitation to come to 'Our Father' and find real assurance in seeking the Lord's face according to his priorities for our lives. It beautifully articulates the rich weight and beautiful simplicity of the Lord's prayer. I found it to be a rare combination of the encouraging, challenging and comforting in equal measure. Read this book if you want to be encouraged in the simple persistence of submitting to God and seeking from God.'Martin SalterLead Pastor, Grace Community Church, Bedford, FIEC'So many books have been written on the Lord's Prayer that help us to understand the text, but very few draw out its implications for our lives, both individually and as a church. This book does the latter with a disarming combination of pastoral warmth and incisive application.'Andy RitsonMinister, Eden Church Carlisle, IPC'Heart-warming and convicting in equal measure! This book will not give you a method to follow, but a posture check as you approach your Father in Heaven. It weaves together the bible's picture of the God we pray to with His instruction for the content of those prayers and so beautifully unveils the Lord's kindness and honesty to us as we come before Him. Read it slowly, and let it grow your humility, dependence, and confidence as you pray.'Esther DicksonScotland Team Leader, UCCF'What a delightful encouragement this book is. Familiar truths are made vivid while dense truths are made simple. It challenges our self absorption and yet raises our anticipation in prayer. The simple pattern of submitting to our Father and then seeking good gifts is so helpful. Here is a really helpful word to shape our praying.'Matt FullerSenior Minister, Christ Church Mayfair'What a joy and privilege we have to pray to our Heavenly Father. This new book by William Philip is a great treat in spending time listening to Jesus teach us how to pray. We need to come to the Lord's prayer often and meditate on the simple profundity of our Lord's teaching. Here is a book to help us do just that.'Phillip JensenFormer Dean of Sydney's St Andrews Cathedral, Bible Teacher and Evangelist, Two Ways Ministries
