Diatessaron

About this book

Have you ever wondered why the four Gospels were originally combined into one continuous story? The Diatessaron provides a fascinating answer. Created in the second century by Tatian, an early Christian apologist and ascetic, this masterpiece is the very first Gospel harmony. By weaving the distinct accounts of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John together, Tatian produced a single, chronological, and seamless narrative of the life of Jesus Christ. For over two hundred years, the Diatessaron was the standard text used by the Syriac church, profoundly shaping early Christian theology, worship, and devotion.Far more than a simple editing project, this unified Gospel eliminates overlapping accounts and chronologically aligns the miracles, parables, and discourses of Christ. It offers a unique reading experience that allows believers, scholars, and historians to view the earthly ministry of Jesus without having to flip back and forth between the four separate biblical books. What You'll Discover in This Modern Translation: A Seamless Narrative of Christ's Life - Read the events of Jesus' birth, ministry, passion, and resurrection as one fluid, chronological story.
