The Terrible Chenoo

About this book

Discover what happens when a brave woman and her husband are kind to a terrible Chenoo. Instead of letting themselves be scared of this man-eating monster, they feed him, provide him with clothes, and make him snug and warm in their home. This retold folktale, inspired by the Algonquian Nations, promotes a timely message about responding to bullies with friendship and kindness. Brimming with full-color artwork by favorite Barefoot illustrator Sophie Fatus, The Terrible Chenoo encourages readers who are just beginning to enjoy chapter books to grasp more advanced vocabulary and sentence structure.
