Piet Cools Off

About this book

The bestselling author of The Hidden Life of Trees partners with his daughter to introduce kids aged 3-7 to the countless ways animals cool down and the importance of forests in hot weather. It's a hot day--VERY hot! Piet the squirrel needs to find a good way to cool down and he can't eat ice cream, like his friend Peter the forester, so he bounds off into the woods to search for another solution. Soon he meets some other animals and discovers all the ways they keep cool--how wasps spit water into their nests, wild pigs roll in the cool mud, and rabbits hide in their burrows underground. But none of these work for Piet. Just as he's about to give up... he realizes he may have found the perfect way after all! Piet Cools Off brings to life amazing facts about the forest and features: Informative side bars that teach readers about the importance of forests and temperature regulation.
