Jacques and the Forbidden Christmas

About this book

It is the Christmas of 1794. The townspeople are downhearted because Napoleon has declared Christian worship against the law. Determined to celebrate Christmas, eight-year-old Jacques sculpts his own manger scene made of clay. As he meets neighbors along his travels, he depicts them in his Nativity set. Jacques develops a friendship with a Revolutionary soldier, giving him gifts, and teaching him about the Christ Child.Jacques and the Forbidden Christmas is another gold-award winner for "Excellence in Family-Friendly" creation by Martha Sears West.
