Caregiving

About this book

Coming to terms with a loved one's diminishing health is a difficult ordeal in any situation--whether it is due to the effects of terminal illness or the progression of a mental condition like Alzheimer's or dementia, it is hard to accept the changes taking place and the inevitability of what comes next. For many people, however, this is only the beginning. Whether it be for practical reasons, financial reasons, or because of one's own convictions, many will find themselves shouldering the immense task of caring for these relatives themselves.Caregiving: A Temporary Investment into the Treasures of Heaven is the heartfelt testimony of one author's experiences as caregiver to her elderly mother. With genuine vulnerability, practical advice, a touch of humor, and abundant spiritual fortitude, this book is for caregivers in need of encouragement as they take on the physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing responsibility of caring for elderly relatives.Presented in short chapters designed to fit into the average caregiver's busy schedule, this book will provide readers with touching personal narratives, useful insight, and the constant reminder that even when the situation is most challenging--when doubt, frustration, fear, and more seem impossible to overcome--God is there to provide direction. Roles change in life. Lisa Arceri's experience for decades was as a Christian wife, mother, and business owner. In 2014, she took on the role of caregiver when her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Dementia. Like many, Lisa faced the challenge with an open heart and little experience. She relies on the faith that carried her through other challenges in life. Lisa wants to encourage the faith and affirm the decision of those taking on the role of caring for their elderly parents at home.
