The Book of Blessings

About this book

God is the Author of all blessings. As we study His Word, many examples become evident. Once upon a time, blessings were spoken in the home on a daily basis. But somehow, this practice has waned throughout the 2,000 year history of the Church. The responsibility now belongs almost exclusively to the clergy. The Book of Blessings reintroduces this observance to impact others with the language of God. As we study and restore the priestly duty of blessing by all believers, we will discover the profound influence it can have on our families, our congregations, and our society. Readers will be equipped with blessings from over 500 verses of the Bible, conveniently sorted into twenty-four categories. In the hands of those looking for relevant ways to carry out personal ministry, this book provides quick access to blessings for common situations in everyday life. R. Scott Osborne serves as the Director of Ministry Development for Christian Assembly in Columbus, Ohio. His responsibilities include direction of men's ministries and he serves as a Director for Threshold Community Services. Scott formally transitioned into ministry after twenty-five years as an executive in the medical device industry. Throughout his secular career, he invested himself in a number of ministry roles, including Bible teacher, home group leader, deacon, worship leader, and Sunday School bus driver. Still committed to lay ministry, Scott plays bass in the church worship band and volunteers at a crisis pregnancy center where he counsels male clients and leads post-abortion recovery groups for men. He has been married to Daryse since 1975. They have two daughters and a grandson. Scott can be reached at [email protected] or through his website, www.thebookofblessings.com.
