The Pursuit of God

About this book

For anyone who wants to live with authentic faith, pursuing God above all else.Tozer's bestseller, this book has been called "one of the all-time most inspirational books" by a panel of Christian magazine writers. In this beloved classic, the late pastor and evangelist A. W. Tozer invites readers to follow an altogether worthy, holy, loving God. To modern ears, his prophetic voice may feel radical. Yet, in essence, Tozer draws on and illuminates biblical, historical Christian faith, urging us to: replace low, insufficient thoughts of God with lofty ones be honest before God and die to self quiet our lives so we can know God's presence recognize counterfeit faiths outside and within our own hearts part with the things keeping us from God listen for the voice of God focus on the eternal kingdom, keeping our gaze on Jesus and His splendor live as if our treasures and possessions are gifts from Him surrender our relationships, reputation, ambitions to Him Tozer reminds us that life apart from God is really no life at all. Whether you're new to the faith, mentoring someone in the faith, or want to live more deeply committed to God, this book will bless, challenge, encourage, and guide you."Arise, O sleeper!" is Tozer's word to us, and yet if we heed the call, we will see that to arise is not to stand, but to kneel before the God of heaven in humble contemplation. To pursue God is to know Him, and in our knowing be drawn in.
