Ranch Life: Prairie Fires

About this book

The National Ranching Heritage Center and Hank the Cowdog are proud to partner for Prairie Fires, the fifth book in the Ranch Life Learning series. You may not have known it, but Hank's job as Head of Ranch Security includes another very important role: Fire Marshall. With Hank as your guide, you'll learn about how prairie fires get started, how to fight them and how to prevent them. Moreover, Hank will explain the distinct characteristics of a wildfire and how it must be fought differently than your typical prairie fire. Drawing from his own experience with a wildfire that hit the ranch, Hank explains the after-effects of fire, including its devastating consequences and some very surprising benefits!
