Call to the Center

About this book

This book is perfect for personal or prayer group study and is an excellent resource for retreats and workshops. Enjoy it day by day for meditation or use it as your companion reader to the Gospel of Matthew. This book demonstrates the spiritually enriching power of centering prayer when used in conjunction with scripture. Call to the Center is a refreshing collection of meditations on the Gospel of Matthew and an invitation to learn the sincere form of prayer from the heart called Centering Prayer. Father Pennington writes, "Centering Prayer is a very simple way of prayer, which can be used by anyone who wants to be with God, to experience his love. It is a prayer of longing that leads into his presence." "Pennington leads the reader in a very personal way to listen to the Word of God in the Gospel of Matthew. His meditations show us how to open ourselves to God who gives us love, peace and joy and how to share these gifts with others in our troubled world. This book should be read slowly and can be read again and again; it provides an experience of prayer." Morton Kelsey Author of The Other Side of Silence "Father Pennington is a master of Centering Prayer. In Call to the Center he has constructed a strong scriptural foundation for the practice, supplied simple instructions, and issued a challenge to all persons who take seriously their relationship with God in Jesus Christ."
