Boom Town

About this book

Aloysius Archer returns to find himself at the heart of a conspiracy bigger than anyone could ever imagine from #1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci.Private investigator and World War II veteran Aloysius Archer is no stranger to trouble, but when the former love of his life Liberty Callahan walks into his West Hollywood office, he knows this case will be different. Her friend Betty Sams needs help: a mysterious letter delivered by a wild-haired hermit to her employer, the enigmatic medium Father John, has set off a chain of events. Before Archer can dig deeper, the hermit turns up dead--officially a heart attack, unofficially murdered. Suddenly Archer is neck-deep in a nightmare that stretches from the glittering mansions of Bel Air to the shadowy world of atomic secrets, lethally minded spies from multiple countries, and a doomsday weapon that could end everything. The cops are covering up murders and the FBI wants Archer to back off, but he instead risks all to untangle a conspiracy that reaches to the highest levels of American intelligence. In the City of Angels, long built on dreams and deception, Archer will need every ounce of his war-honed instincts and PI skills to survive a case where the enemy wears a badge, the stakes are global annihilation, and trusting anyone is the deadliest gamble of all. This is a story that could be ripped from today's headlines, and a thriller like no other.
