Vibhi and the Voice

About this book

From Newbery Honoree Rajani LaRocca and Caldecott Honoree Cindy Derby comes a luminous picture book about finding beauty in the things that frighten us. Vibhi is scared of the dark. But when she hears a voice one night, speaking softly about being afraid of the light, Vibhi is intrigued. The voice belongs to a shadowy girl named Layla, and Vibhi is determined to help her overcome her fear of the light. As the two meet night after night, they find they have much in common--and that, perhaps, neither the dark nor the light is scary when you're with a friend. Infused with light, warmth, and wisdom, this beautifully crafted and exquisitely illustrated picture book will soothe small children to sleep and awaken readers of all ages to dream outside the lines.
