Metaphysics and Historicity

About this book

""Metaphysics and Historicity: The Aquinas Lecture, 1961"" is a philosophical work by Emil L. Fackenheim that explores the relationship between metaphysics and history. Fackenheim argues that metaphysical concepts such as being and essence cannot be fully understood without taking into account their historical context. He examines the works of philosophers such as Aristotle, Kant, and Heidegger to illustrate how their metaphysical theories were shaped by the historical and cultural milieu in which they lived. Fackenheim also discusses the role of historicity in Jewish thought, particularly in relation to the Holocaust. The book is based on Fackenheim's 1961 Aquinas Lecture, which he delivered at Marquette University. It is a thought-provoking and insightful work that will appeal to anyone interested in the intersection of philosophy, history, and religion. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
