Get Yourself a Snack

About this book

From the creator of the laugh-out-loud and heartfelt Instagram Big Time Adulting comes this raw and original collection illuminating how life, motherhood, and womanhood rarely unfold the way we expect--but even in the chaos and contractions, we can still find resilience and love. Caitlin Murray is reaching millions of people across her social media platforms, where she takes hilarious aim at one of the toughest jobs on the planet: parenting. Unafraid of uncomfortable truths, Caitlin approaches life with foul-mouthed humor, refreshing candor, and wicked dance moves. In her first, long-awaited book, Caitlin shares life moments that are by turns wildly entertaining, thoughtful, and vulnerable--from sleepwalking into her boyfriend's father's bed and scavenging for day-old bakery bread in her early twenties, to the crushing anxiety of early motherhood and the harrowing experience of her young son's cancer diagnosis. Along the way, she learns how to integrate and honor all the parts of herself that don't fit into the prevailing cultural narrative of the "good mother," and inspires others to do the same. Caitlin embraces a fierce sense of self as she forges her own path through motherhood, all while advocating for less guilt and shame, more honesty and solidarity, and a lot more snacks.
