About this book

"A Pioneering Children's Book" "Un libro innovador" LA Times"Rebeldita is a little heroine standing against ICE Ogres" Al Día News Rebeldita the Fearless is a girl born out of long-enduring Black and Indigenous resistances in the Americas. She knows her history and uses it to change her present in Ogreland, where Ogres steal children's parents away at night, put them in cages and send them far, far away. Through joy, intelligence, and love for her community, however, Rebeldita leads with other children and collectively, they fight back. Because ultimately, all children must realize they outnumber the Ogres. Written in fun masterful rhyming language, Rebeldita educates, motivates, and empowers both children and adults to join in the fight against family separation in the United States. By scholar and educator, Dr. Siu. With illustrations by Muralist, Alicia Siu. Siu, educadora y profesora. Con ilustraciones de la muralista, Alicia Siu."Rebeldita the Fearless in Ogreland is much more than just a book: it is family, it is community, it is imagination, it is about taking action." Dra. Magalí Rabasa - Profesora"This amazing book depicts the true story that many immigrant children and families are facing today in the United States. Children who are in detention centers (cages) and at times separated from their parents. Very well written story. I totally recommend this book to everyone."Selene Salas - Teacher and Mother "Good fiction often bends toward reality. Packed with lessons to live by, Rebeldita the Fearless in Ogreland, is a story to read aloud" Mathew Byrne - Scholar, Writer, Activist "La aventura es única. Jessie Alvarez, Educador, Guatemala
